Undergraduate

Undergraduates in the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science are engaged in academics, research and social events. The department offers ample opportunities for field experiences, and takes great pride in its efforts to develop an active, supportive student community.

The department encourages all majors to explore opportunities with the faculty and graduate students on research projects. FSU has programs such as the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) to assist students with gaining hands-on experience in the lab and field. EOAS has a long history of student field research, laboratory internships, and credited Directed Individual Studies in laboratories on campus, research vessels, and field camps. If interested in gaining research experience, students should contact their teaching instructors about possible opportunities.

There are several EOAS departmental societies for undergraduates and graduates that enhance the FSU experience and future networking. These organizations include:

Prospective students should contact the program advisor with questions or to arrange a campus visit. We’re looking forward to seeing you on campus and in the department.
