About

Mariana Fuentes is a professor in the FSU Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science. She is the principal investigator of the Marine Turtle Research, Ecology and Conservation Group, which addresses issues related to conservation and management of marine turtles and other marine megafauna. Fuentes' research group uses a variety of approaches to explore how marine megafauna interact with environmental processes and how they are impacted by current and future disturbances.

The Marine Turtle Research, Ecology and Conservation Group addresses real-world issues related to the conservation and management of marine turtles and other marine megafauna. Our research is interdisciplinary and applied in nature, and focuses on questions related to the spatial ecology, and behavior of marine megafauna, particularly marine turtles, with the aim of advancing our understanding of the impacts that they face from cumulative and synergetic disturbances, and to determine how to systematically mitigate threats to maximize conservation outcomes.
