Alyssa Atwood
About
Alyssa Atwood is an associate professor in the FSU Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science. Atwood has taught courses in oceanography and meteorology since joining FSU in 2019. She leads the Tropical Paleo-Dynamics Group, a research group which studies the geochemistry of coral skeletons to study Earth history hundreds to thousands of years in the past. They develop new quantitative, high-resolution climate reconstructions from dynamically-important regions of the tropics, and pair these reconstructions with modern observations, dynamical theory and numerical simulations.
