Maya Stokes
Assistant Professor
About
Maya Stokes is an assistant professor in the FSU Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Science. After earning her Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Yale University in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, where she learned to apply molecular methods to research the evolutionary history of freshwater fishes. She now leads the Stokes Lab, which works at the intersection of geology and biology to understand how topography changes over time, and how that might affect the evolution of life.
